The Parent Council is made up of parents and carers from the Parent Forum who have volunteered to help in delivering the aims of the Parent Council. The Parent Forum encompasses all parents and carers with children at the High School, anyone from the Parent Forum is welcome to join the Parent Council.

However, if the idea of formal meetings puts you off you could also get involved through sub-groups dealing with specific issues that might be of interest. These currently include the environment  and pupil well being but there is no limitation on subject or number. The aims of the Parent Council as set out in our constitution are:

To promote partnership between the school, it’s pupils and all its parents

To develop and engage in activities which support the education and welfare of the pupils

To identify and represent the views of parents on the education and welfare of the pupils

To raise funds, apply for and received grants and accept gifts for the benefit of the school

All aims, no doubt everyone can agree with but why do we need a Parent Council to achieve this? Well, if you have a concern regarding pupil education or welfare, an initiative that you’d like to get off the ground or a great idea for fund raising it’s quite likely that other parents and carers will feel the same way too. The Parent Council offers a way for parents and carers to share these ideas, work together and speak with one voice. As well as meeting with other parents and carers, school pupil reps and school staff attend our regular meetings and sub groups so that the whole school community is working together.

Meetings, events and initiatives are regularly communicated to the Parent Forum through our Facebook page, regular school information releases and local media. Please come and join us your opinion is valued.
