Wild North photo competition- see Mr McFedries for details.
This year, the Wild North Festival is kicking off with an art and photography competition. There are several categories for both competitions; we would like to your school to encourage 12-17 year old’s to take part in our photography competition. The theme of the competition is “Reflections of the Past”.
On Saturday, 14th June, the school will be holding its annual Summer Fete. This successful fundraiser has, in the past, provided much needed support for various school trips and initiatives and this year is no exception. Currently we have 7 groups of pupils undertaking different trips away, from the annual Modern Studies’ visits to Westminster and the Scottish Parliament to a football camp in Amsterdam. The funds raised at the School Fete enable us both to contribute to the expense of these trips, thereby reducing the overall costs borne by the parents of participating students, and also to support individual cases of hardship where relevant.
For the Summer Fete to be a success we need your support and there are various ways in which you can do this :
· Volunteering to run a stall on the day (lots of choices available),
· Sending in bottle donations for the bottle stall.
· Giving donations of bric-a-brac,
· Donating a raffle prize,
· Donating odds and ends of crockery/china that will be smashed on the day and then used for future mosaic projects.
All donations will be very gratefully received and should be handed in to the school office by Friday, 13th June, except for any baking which can be handed in on the morning of the event. Or please contact us on 01854 612078 if you are able to volunteer to run a stall.
Finally, we hope that you will be able to come, take part and have fun on the day. There will be posters on display nearer the time, giving details of all the activities and stalls available and we hope that there will be something to interest everyone, from pony rides, tombola and children’s races to visits from the fire engine and a fortune-teller!
Thank you for your support.
Study leave starts 28th April for our Senior classes. Pupils will return on Monday June 2nd.
There will be a focus on dress code in school for our S1-3 pupils in the month of May. Dress code is well adhered to amongst this group and Mr McFedries or Ms Clark will speak to any youngster where there is a perceived issue. We appreciate all your support in this and we look forward to developing the dress code in the coming year with our pupils involved in designing new items using the new logo.
May is a busy month for our S1-3, with plenty of activities to keep them going. S1 have a suspended timetable from 19th-23rd May, with activities like forensic challenge, mountain biking, Plan B theatre, Littorial Art Project as well as some youngsters going to the Summer isles for an expedition that will culminate in a John Muir Award.
S2 have their own activities week with most heading on the trip to Loch Eil. 26th -30th May. On that same week all of S3 are on work experience-a big thank you to all our local employers for their assistance with this huge task.
