Social Subjects
Welcome to the Social Subjects of Geography, History and Modern Studies.
Broad General Education
In S1/2, pupils will have four lessons a week of social subjects, this will be split into the three main subjects within Social Subjects (Geography, History and Modern Studies).
Topics covered include: map skills; climate and pollution; development; local History; ancient settlements; people, events and turning points in Scottish History; democracy; crime and the law, equality and diversity and international issues.
In S3, pupils have the option to specialise within the social subjects department by choosing either Geography or History or both, and will have three lessons a week of the chosen subject.
Senior Phase
At senior phase pupils can choose to continue studying Geography and History from National 4 level to Advanced Higher.
