The P.E. department aims to give pupils the opportunity to become ‘better movers, better thinkers, better people’.
Broad General Education
The S1-S3 programme covers four main ‘themes’:-
Physical Competencies/Physical Fitness/Personal Qualities/Cognitive Skills through a wide range of physical activities.
Senior Phase
All S4 pupils will continue to get core P.E.
Pupils can opt to take P. E. from National 4 to Higher level, or they can take Sport & Recreation at National 5 level.

There are many careers that use Physical Education, some of them can be found here.
Resources and Revision
Pupils are required to attend P.E with appropriate kit. This includes a t-shirt, shorts/leggings, and comfortable supportive trainers. During colder weather or if the class is outside, joggers and a jumper/jacket are acceptable. If the class are timetabled for swimming, pupils will be expected to bring appropriate clothing for the pool. This consists of swimming trucks/full body swimming costume, a towel, as well as any of the following, if required:- swim cap/goggles/nose plug. Pupils are permitted to wear t-shirts/shorts over their swimming attire if this helps them to participate.
Pupils who are unable to take part fully in lessons due to medical issues/injuries will be required to bring a signed note from a responsible adult detailing the reasons for limited participation. In this instance, it could still be possible for a pupil to contribute to the lesson even at a very low level of exertion through scoring, refereeing, or helping set up any equipment. This helps to keep all learners involved in the lesson.

Homework
No official homework is issued in S1-S3 although from time to time pupils will be encouraged to consider some extra work that will help with the theme or activity at the time.
Homework can be issued in the certificated courses of the senior phase.
Beyond the Classroom
The PE department runs an Inter-House Sports Competition throughout the school session, giving pupils the opportunity to represent their house in a selection of activities that span team and individual sports.
The PE department also contributes to the ‘inter-school competition’ opportunities that pupils can take up, in activities including football, swimming, cross country, athletics and badminton.
